Established through Presidential Proclamation No. 837 in 1991, November 01 launches this Corazon Aquino-signed observance honoring knowledge repositories nationwide. This dedicated occasion champions Appreciation for over 1,400 National Library-affiliated institutions spanning provincial, municipal, and barangay levels. Celebrations showcase Books through storytelling contests, book character parades, and the culminating National Book Week festivities. This Educational commemoration, coordinated by the National Library alongside NCCA-NCLIS, emphasizes libraries’ evolving role amid technological transformation. Annual themes rotate—celebrating relate, engage, advocate, and lead principles. Throughout the Philippines, opening ceremonies, fun runs, and literary congresses unite librarians, students, and communities honoring intellectual freedom’s enduring societal value.
